I’ve been part of Brikl since October 2020 and connecting with my teammates has been something I’ve always looked forward to. Being on my own in Mexico City has been challenging, but the desire to have an opportunity to meet the team has been always a goal since day one.
This month, I finally met some of my colleagues around the world!
The first one was Meryem Ouedghiri, who is located in Brussels: I don’t have enough words to express the lovely, warm and generous welcome I’ve received from her. She was extremely friendly and helpful in the few hours I was in Belgium and Leuven; I’m so looking forward to seeing her again! The next stop was Istanbul, and there is where I met my colleague Vedat Beyaz, who showcased the famous ‘Turkish hospitality’. I’m very grateful for everything he did to make me feel welcome, and for the time we shared to get to know each other. Teşekkürler compa!
Then we have Jason Reinhardt who hosted me at his guest house in Leuven, where I had the space to get back to work during an entire week in Belgium: working from this country was really an eye-opening experience!
I want to give special thanks to Jason for taking me to the Netherlands where I got the chance to meet Suz Pathmanathan and Cheyu Hsu, my new ‘compitas’! I had such a great time with them both, and it was definitely a Dream Come True getting to spend a working day with you!
I also noticed the profound connection in the Marketing Team; it’s nice to see how teammates can get along very well and indeed important to have that connection on a professional level. Cheyu, thanks for making one of the best pictures someone has ever shot for me!
Last but not least, I met Maarten Boone, who at some point on this road, believed in me and made me the First Brikl Account Manager, almost three years ago. I was supposed to surprise him and show up out of nowhere, and actually, it was him who gave me the biggest surprise! Thanks, Maarten for sharing some little time with me; it means a lot to me. Very soon I’m reading you a page of the Dutch book I’ve got!
So with all of this being said, I want to thank you all for hosting me, receiving me, making me feel welcome, and for all the kind words and the time you all shared with me. You made me the happiest person on Earth.
Being somewhat isolated in Mexico, this travel was a huge opportunity for me to connect with my teammates and this is definitely something that opened my eyes in so many ways. Working remotely has huge advantages but also some challenges (not sure how I’ve managed to get here all by myself lol), but all this time alone has been worth it because I had the opportunity these past weeks to share with some of you, thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
I really hope I’ll get to meet some more of my colleagues soon and of course, go back to Belgium and share some more time together!
